Lisa Hagen
I help companies make better product decisions during periods of growth and change.

How I Help
I work with companies when expectations go up — often around an investment, an acquisition, or a push to scale — and it becomes harder to make confident product decisions. There’s usually a lot of activity and a lot of investment in technology, but it’s not translating into the progress leaders expected.I’m often brought in where product leadership hasn’t existed before, or where it’s spread across a matrixed organization. Different leaders care about different things, decisions get revisited, and teams aren’t sure which calls really matter.
My role is to help shape and strengthen the direction teams are moving in — whether that means clarifying it, filling in what’s missing, or adjusting it so it holds up as the company grows. That often involves working through assumptions and tradeoffs that haven’t been fully surfaced yet, and helping leaders line up around a shared plan they can stand behind. From there, I help leaders align on what stays, what changes, and what needs to be explicitly set aside — so teams aren’t solving the same problems over and over in different ways.I support this work either as an advisor during critical moments or by stepping in as a fractional product leader through periods of growth or transition.

About
I’ve spent my career working inside companies at very different stages — from early startups figuring things out from scratch, to large, complex organizations with billions in revenue. I’ve worked in regulated environments, including healthcare, where decisions carry real constraints and real consequences.Across those contexts, my role has often been the same: helping teams and leaders make clear product decisions when things are moving fast, priorities compete, and the cost of getting it wrong is high. I’ve been in organizations where product leadership was still emerging, where teams were scaling quickly, and where technology investment needed to translate into measurable business outcomes.I’m also a builder. Alongside my advisory and fractional work, I’m actively working on products of my own — most recently JobOtter.ai — which keeps me close to the realities of shipping, tradeoffs, and decision-making in practice, not just in theory.

I’m currently a co-president of the Boston Product Management Association (BPMA), where I work with the board and broader community to support product leaders and strengthen the product ecosystem.Outside of work, I value time outdoors and space to think. I’m drawn to work that’s thoughtful, practical, and grounded, and to partnerships built on trust, not hype.
If you’re navigating a moment of change — growth, transition, competing priorities, or a situation that just isn’t clear yet — I’m happy to have a conversation.
